This research paper will explain why alcohol and drug abuse have a negative impact on people, families, friends and society. The abuse of alcohol and drugs knows no boundaries, it does not discriminate. It affects rich and poor, black and white, young and old. Many people don’t consider alcohol as a drug since it is â€Å"legal† after age 21, but in reality it is one of the most addictive â€Å"legal† substances on the planet. They don’t realize that they have a problem when in reality what they have is an addiction. Alcohol isn’t the only substance one can get an addiction to another example of illegal and legal substances are drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines, and tobacco, etc... I will explain the impact on the person, family, friends, and society that drug and alcohol abuse have both positive, if any, and definite negative effects. I chose alcohol and drug abuse because it interests me and I believe this is a serious and defini te problem that affects not only the United States, but the whole world. There are also many known facts that this has been an ongoing problem for many centuries and has affected people worldwide.
